Default new pickup

Got a second gen Accent
1.6L engine
5-spd
stock everything, including airbox.
What needs to be fixed:
head gasket-spewing coolant
shift linkages maybe tranny

Body is in near perfect condition
clean title

I'm looking at making it a road race *****
250-300whp, I need to know what the 1.6L can handle before it blows.
I'm gonna pickup a beta 2 later on
with harness
ECU

Should I boost with the 1.6L or go to the beta 2 and boost with that and some jattus parts?

Someone guide me
I need the following

Coilovers
sway bars
traction bars
endlinks
5 440cc injectors
190lph fuel pump
2.0L beta 2 ECU
16g turbo, internally gated
POS BOV
CX racing IC and piping
is the 08 beta 2 engine MAP or MAF?

Include as many details as you can.

not the best choice for a track car. the accent is more suited to auto-x with its short gears and short powerband, and it will be even shorter with a turbo. youd be better off building the tiburon for road race and using a betaaccent as a daily driver. its not logical to build the 1.6 if youre planning to betaswap. there is a DIY around for beta swapping.

Well...
Beta 2 engine, rev limiter at around 7,600rpm
16 x 8" 235 40 16
alpha 5-spd

I might have another 10mph out of each gear, the stock alpha rev limits at like 5k right?
Gearing right now is
28,50,70,100,130*?
with the new setup, i'm hoping for 35-65-85-110-?
Still uber short but perfect for a small track, like the Waterford MI track which is 10 miles from my house

Default Re: new pickup

what sort of beta2 do u have and where did u get it? that it has a 7600 limiter?

my auto revs to about 6300, and i cant imagine the 5spd to rev any higher...

or are u talkin about with tuning u can "safely" rev it that high?

Beta swap it with a beta 5 speed and it will be a ***** of a track car. you can do a basic beta swap for less than 1500 dollars. I'm getting ready to pick up my 3rd accent maybe today if I can talk the lady down in price some. The first beta swap I did cost me around 1200 (including the price of the car) the second one cost me more because it was ****ed from the beginning. I put it back to stock and sold it to a buddy of mine for a work beater.

in an LC accent you can do the basic swap with just a beta 2 engine a mount and some wire extensions.

to go all out you will need a beta II (2001-2006) elantra (2003-2008) tiburon
Manual trans ECU
engine wiring harness. (or the ability to swap pins and understand wiring diagrams)
Beta 5 speed tranny
axles
custom fabbed mounts for trans (front and rear)
custom fabbed motor mount (passenger side)

I'm sure there is more but it's early as **** right now. (for me on a Saturday)

Pete I think the I4 tib tachs out at 7500.

stock is 6,500.
Picked er up today. She's a beauty.
Body has literally no damage..VERY little rust.
Paint is very dirty, rough to the feel.
I'll need to save up for the beta 2 swap.
I have a 5-spd from a tib
I have a 5-spd ecu from a tib
I have an engine as well..V6
Can I bolt up a alpha tranny to a beta 2 engine? That's what I wanna do.
I'm gonna pick up my beta 2 later next week..with harness. Then the ECU for it.
I wonder if I can fabricate the V6 to fit..rear mounted turbo..it'll move.
300-350whp from a V6 in a 2,400lbs car would be nuts. I have all the parts. I'm just not sure if it's worth the work since it's a track ***** and it needs to have a proper weight balance.
I'm getting 18 x 10 wheels for the tib, i'm gonna see if the stock tib wheels will fit the accent, then put spacers and give it a flush look. Drop it about 2" and then repaint it. I just wish it wasn't so fugly :/

lol you can get 300 350 out of a beta for a loooooooottttttttttt less money than the v6. yes the alpha transmission will bolt up to the beta motor but you need to mod the beta block for the slave cylinder to fit onto it. Be wary that if you keep the alpha the beta will eat through axles like kswapped hondas lol.

can I use a 5-spd off of a V6?
So, I need a Beta 2 engine
beta 5-spd
beta ecu
beta axles
shift linkages
shifter
clutch
flywheel

then
the turbo?

Damn that's a lot of parts :/
What's the issue with boosting off the 1.6?
How far can i go? 200-225whp? If so I would rather do that

you can boost the bejesus out of the 1.6
YouTube- worlds fastest hyundai accent
problem is, traction and gearing. you need low down torque to get out there and track race.

hahha! Dude that yellow Accent is swapped 4G63t AWD!
How far can I push the 1.6L
I'm not a fan of the gearing either, but I have the parts and don't have time nor money for the 2.0 swap, yet.
How far can I push it on a 19t turbo? The one on the Genesis?
Those are pretty torquey, plus 2nd isn't THAT short..50mph. Third isn't too bad either. Yeah, i'll end up shifting retarded quick, but it'll still be fast.

If I remove the radiator fan, mount it on the other side I have quite a bit of space to work with, I need to order a new radiator, probably a koyo, i'll end up replacing the headgasket and most of the gaskets. I know ImportShark has every gasket for sale for around $50. I'm gonna pick that up soon.
